Nicola Zalewski is the most recent football player to be linked to the betting investigation, which has previously exposed other Serie A players, according to local media.
Zalewski plays full-back for both the Polish national team and the Serie A Club Roma.
The Roma Press also claimed that Zalewski was rejoining the Polish U21 Squad following his resolution of several "personal and professional issues" before he was implicated in the incident.
While betting on sports is permitted for Serie A athletes, it cannot be done on their own sport, and the websites they use must be legitimate.
Nicolò Fagioli, an Italian football player who plays for both Juventus and the Italian national team, was the subject of the initial investigation.
According to reports, Fagioli may have violated federal rules by placing bets on unlicensed websites.
As of this writing, not much information has been made public, but if found guilty, he may be subject to a three-year suspension and a punishment of at least €25,000 ($26,507).
The Turin Public Prosecutor's Office is also looking into Italian football players Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo, so Fagioli wasn't the only player under investigation.
Because they are not in good enough health to participate in the forthcoming matches, both players have been dropped from the Italian national team, according to a statement issued by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
